1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website or use a web application. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners.

Cookies are not viruses or harmful programs. They cannot access other files on your device, run programs, or execute malicious code. They simply store small pieces of information that help the website function as intended.

Similar technologies include:

  • Local Storage: Browser-based storage used for session state and preferences
  • Session Storage: Temporary data storage cleared when the browser tab is closed
  • Pixel tags / Web beacons: Tiny invisible images used to track page visits and email opens
  • Device fingerprinting: A technique that identifies devices based on configuration (we use this only for security purposes)

For simplicity, this policy refers to all such technologies collectively as "cookies."

When you first visit the Scanify platform, you will be presented with a cookie consent banner where you can accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can update your preferences at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the footer of our website.

Note: Disabling strictly necessary or security cookies will prevent you from using core platform features such as logging in.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies
  • Block all cookies or block cookies from specific sites
  • Set preferences for accepting or rejecting cookies from specific categories
